Dealing with a teenage daughter can be a little tough because she is at a very tender stage of her life. At this point you will start noticing a number of changes in your darling princess because she is transforming into a young woman and it is very important for you to understand and co-operate with her. Designing a room for your teenage daughter can be a cumbersome and tiring process but with a little bit of planning and intelligence you can design a beautiful and comfortable room for your young daughter.

Just follow these ideas and see how your daughter smiles when she sees her room:

  1. First of all, ask for your daughters’ suggestions. She will give you a fair idea about her tastes, styles and preferences which in turn makes the designing process easier and fun-filled (you don’t have to worry whether the room designed by you will be liked by her or not).
  2. You can ask your daughter to choose the colors for the wall or let her paint the room. Teens really want to express themselves and it would be a good idea to hand her some canvas paper and tempera paint so that she creates an art work that defines her likings and personality.
  3. Loft beds are a great option as they create space and can be found at attractive prices. Under the loft bed there is a great amount of space to put a comfortable folding chair in which you ten can relax and it can also be used to put other clutter of the room so that it gets a spacious and neat look. Other furniture includes bed-side tables, book-shelves, study table and cupboards. Make sure that all these items are present in the room so that your daughter doesn’t grumble about the scarcity of space to put or display her personal things.
  4. Remember that your daughter is growing big, so design a room that looks sophisticated and mature. Introduce items which are an instant hit with teenagers like music systems, mp3 players, bean bag chairs and other rugged and rough items. Remember that your daughter may not like those cuddly dolls and stuffed animals any more!
  5. Accessories that be used in the room include colorful candles and vases for pencils, pens etc. You can opt for curtains or blinds either match with the wall color or are contrasting depending on your daughters’ choice. Bed linens can either be frilly, rustic or simple depending on your teen’s choice but make sure that you don’t compromise on the quality. Other items may include family or friends photograph or a modern area rug which not only brings out the color of the room but also adds to the finishing touch of the room.

Above are some of the ideas which can be used to design your daughters’ room but remember that teens are picky and assertive so don’t try to impose your opinions and ideas on them. In fact let them be themselves and you will find that everything falls into place.
